✓ checked Oct 6

Anthropic folded its $50 Student Builder API credits into the Claude Campus program. Students who lead a campus Builder Club share resources like API credits with members and get a paid stipend. Applications for the 2026-27 school year ran September 1-12 and are closed.

How to claim it

  1. Check the official page. Visit the Claude Campus page. When we checked in October 2026, it said the program is closed for Fall 2026
  2. Get notified. Sign up for our deal alerts and we'll email you when the next Claude Campus application window opens
  3. Join an existing club. If your campus already has a Claude Builder Club, join it now. Members get the shared resources (like API credits) without applying to Anthropic
  4. Pick your track. Undergrads apply for a Builder Club, master's students for Campus Conversations, PhD students and postdocs for Claude Science. Anthropic expects some AI fluency and Claude use. The window is short, so draft your plan early
  5. Apply when it opens. The 2026-27 window was open for 12 days (September 1-12). If Anthropic keeps that schedule, the next one would be around September 2027 (our estimate, not announced)
  6. Use Claude while you wait. See every way to get Claude as a student, from university access to the Free plan

Who's eligible

Who can get the Anthropic student discount?
Students apply to lead one of three tracks: undergrads run a Claude Builder Club, master's students run Claude Campus Conversations, and PhD students or postdocs run Claude Science workshops. Other students join the Builder Club on their campus and get the shared resources without applying to Anthropic.
How long does Anthropic student access last?
One school year. The 2026-27 program runs from September 2026 to June 2027, and past ambassadors have to reapply each year. Applications for this year ran September 1-12 and are closed.
Is the Anthropic student discount available worldwide?
Yes. Students anywhere in the world can apply to any track. You need to be 18+ and have work authorization in your country of study. During the pilot period, the grad and PhD tracks may select from a smaller pool of schools.

Fine print & gotchas

  • Applications are closed. The 2026-27 window ran September 1-12, 2026. Anthropic has not announced the next one.
  • No set credit amount. The old $50 grant is gone. Club leaders share resources like API credits, and amounts vary by club.
  • Leads vs members. Only ambassadors apply to Anthropic and get the stipend. Members join an existing campus club.
  • 18+ with work authorization. Both are required in your country of study. The grad and PhD tracks may pick from a smaller pool of schools during the pilot.

Common questions

Is the $50 Claude API credit program still available?
Not as a standalone offer. Anthropic's old Student Builders application page now redirects to the Claude Campus program page. API credits still exist, but they flow through Claude Builder Clubs on campus rather than individual applications.
When do Claude Campus applications reopen?
Anthropic hasn't announced a date. Applications for the 2026-27 program ran September 1-12, 2026, and the program runs from September 2026 to June 2027. If Anthropic keeps a yearly schedule, the next window would be around September 2027. Sign up for our deal alerts to get notified.
What do Builder Club members actually get?
Officially, club leaders share "regular updates, tips and resources (like API credits)" with members, and run hackathons, demo nights and workshops with Anthropic guest speakers. Anthropic doesn't publish a credit amount per member, so what you get depends on your club.
Who can apply to lead a Claude Campus program?
Students on three tracks: undergrads lead a Claude Builder Club, STEM or humanities master's students lead Claude Campus Conversations, and PhD students or postdocs lead Claude Science workshops. Anthropic expects some AI fluency and Claude proficiency, and the PhD track looks for scientists already using Claude in their research.
How much is the Claude Campus ambassador stipend?
All selected campus ambassadors receive a USD 3,600 cash stipend, subject to program terms. It's free to apply and free to take part.
Do I need to be technical to join?
Builder Clubs run both technical and non-technical workshops, and Anthropic lists no requirements for club members. To lead a club, Anthropic expects some AI fluency and Claude proficiency, but you don't need to be an expert.
Is Claude Campus available outside the US?
Yes. Students anywhere in the world can apply to any track, as long as they are 18+ and have work authorization in their country of study. During the pilot period, the grad and PhD tracks may select from a smaller pool of schools.
What can I use while applications are closed?
If your university is a Claude for Education partner, you may already have free institutional Claude access. See our Claude for Education page. Otherwise, Claude's free tier works for coursework, and our coding category lists other free API credit offers for students.
